We got a chance to play around with shadows a bit yesterday, and many of you reached yet another level of "looking" at not only what is light, but what is not light. We often hear that a "picture is worth a thousand words", but a photo is also a lot like a piece of music, with rhythm, pattern, balance & "color". Understanding the importance of the shadows of a photo is just as important as "seeing the light"!
Ellie M. (block C) arranged the pieces for the picture above. She had the concept (envision - 8 habits) and did all the work - cut out the letters, taped them up to the table, set the lights, etc., but I took this particular photo (she has some similar).
Who does the photo belong to? (Don't need to explain why, just what you think - remember these are "tweet-sized")
...or make any comments on the use of shadow, what you like about the photo (or process), or just the concept/idea.
I love thisss!!! Ellie is SO talented!
ReplyDeleteIt belongs to Ellie because she put all the time and work to make the shot.
ReplyDeleteahh I absolutely love this. very nifty.
ReplyDeleteI love how much work you put into this, Ellie. There was a lot of thought and there are even two layers of shadows involved. totally yours, Ellie.
Ellie's all the way :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome photo. You can see that Ellie put a lot of thought and time into this and it really works and looks really good. This was a really cool idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting photo, but it belongs to Charlie!
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting piece. It reminds me of a "I Spy" book illustration. I also like how the paper is almost unreadable, but the shadow is.
ReplyDeleteAt first i didn't notice the two layers of shadows, i only noticed the darker shadows.
ReplyDeleteI believe that you and Ellie both have rights to this photo.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI love this photo! I love how the main shadow is so distinct, but then there is the shadow from a side light that darkens the shadow in places.
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys! But I think it's Charlie's because he came up with the double shadow idea so he personalized it to make it his own.
ReplyDeleteI loved Ellie's idea and I also like how you can see darker shadows against the lighter shadows.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a work of art or statement on shadows that Ellie made and then you took a picture of. Sort of like taking a picture of a painting, but it's 3D.
ReplyDeleteI really like the double layer of shadow. It adds a very unique touch.
ReplyDeleteI think it's both Charlie and Ellie's because it's not just the subject, it's the angle, and how you take the photo(although the subject is a large part too!)
ReplyDeleteawesomeeeeeeeee.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a cool photo and agree with kat
ReplyDeleteI'd say it belongs to both of you. It's a very innovative photo. Although, I don't like the way the floor is showing.
ReplyDeleteActually, I kind of liked the way the shadows and the paper letters worked together, each becoming more important,to show the word when it had to, like around the "d" the paper letters show more than the shadows.
